Phase 4 Builds up All U . s . States Rights to 'Hick'

Phase 4 Films has acquired all U.S. and Canadian rights to director Derick Martini's Toronto Film Festival entry Hick, starring Chloe Sophistication Moretz, Blake Lively, Eddie Redmayne, Juliette Lewis and Alec Baldwin.our editor recommendsHick: Toronto Review Phase 4 leader-Boss Berry Meyerowitz introduced the sale with Hick Picture Productions leader Charles P Portes. A spring 2012 release is planned. Good book of same title by Andrea Portes, Hick is about a 13-year-old girl (Moretz) who, frustrated with fending for herself and her mother's penchant for hard-consuming males, hits the road expecting as being a celebrity. In route, she meets a drifter getting a nick on his shoulder (Redmayne) together with a troubled but spirited lady (Lively) who takes the woman under her wing. "We've had Derek Martini on our radar since he became a member of the scene along with his edgy film Lymelife," Meyerowitz mentioned. "Hick is certainly an incredible, pull no punches adventure which we could not request anymore gifted cast."
