Lawyers representing the charged assassin of Robert F. Kennedy aspire to prove their client's innocence... 43 years later. In recently filed court papers acquired through the AP, Sirhan Sirhan's legal team allege that the bullet was switched in evidence at his trial, which Sirhan was hypnotized to fireplace shots like a diversion in the actual killer. The lawyers, William F. Pepper and Laurie Dusek, also declare that new audio tests in the 1968 murder prove that there have been 13 shots fired from multiple guns -- five a lot more than Sirhan might have fired from his pistol. The 62-page federal court brief may be the latest in many appeals filed on Sirhan's account, which were formerly switched lower. The Palestinian immigrant hopes to become deported to Jordan and "silently live the relaxation of his existence with family and buddies," the filing states. "But finally he'd, a minimum of, have obtained lengthy postponed justice." Throughout his trial, Sirhan accepted he had wiped out the Senator "with two decades of malice aforethought." He later rescinded his confession. The lawyers have requested the judge set an evidentiary hearing to reexamine the situation, proclaiming that Sirhan didn't have sufficient aid of counsel throughout his trial.
